The Tri-County Fireman's Asso. will run the Delmar Essentials of Fire Fighting Class again In 2010. Tentative class locations are: Potter County (Tri-Town) - Smethport - Elk County (St. Marys) Tentative class schedule is:
Introduction (ELIS) - March 27 & 28
Fire Ground Support (ELFG) April 10 & 11 - April 24 & 25 - May 22 & 23
Exterior Fire Fighting (ELEF) June 5 & 6 - June 19 - June 26 & 27
Interior Fire Fighting (ELIF) September 11 & 12 - September 25 & 26 October 9 & 10 - October 23 & 24
NOTE: All classes will be on the same days. Depending on enrollment some or all of these classes may be combined. Every effort will be made to offer the classes in all three locations.
Please Note!!! - Because of the necessity of determining which classes will be run and the locations there will be no late registration. PLEASE GET YOUR REGISTRATION IN EARLY!!
Please get applications in early as a determination of whether the class is going to run will have to be made by Feb. 14, 2010 for ELIS. A copy of the Enrollment Application can be found HERE. |

On Oct. 25, 2009 the Tri-County Fireman's Asso. Delmar Class of 2009 completed their training with a structural burn that was conducted at the association's training facility in Smethport. The students taking part in the burn came from both the Elk County and the Potter County classes. Students in the classes were from Roulette, Port Allegany, Ulysses, Westfield, Wellsboro, St. Marys, Fox Twp, Emporium. Assisting with the burn session were personnel and equipment from Lewis Run, Shinglehouse, Eldred and Tri-Town (Ulysses). Incident Response To Oil & Gas Well Emergencies |

On May 16th a group of 18 area firefighters completed the 3rd and final session of the Incident Response to Oil & Gas Well Emergencies course held at the International Wax Training grounds in Farmer’s Valley. The technician level course provided the students with hands on application of extinguishment methods on live fire situations, including set-up and operation of water, foam, and dry chemicals applications. More photos of the course can be found in our photo gallery area. And 32 area firefighters took part in a 16 hour Structuare Burn Class on May 16th and 17th. On Saturday, students went through a Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) inspection and practiced techniques that would be used in the live burn on Sunday. On Sunday, fires were set for each student to extinguish and then exterior operations were in place for the final burn.  |

On Sunday May 31st sixteen Potter County firefighters from Tri-Town Fire Co. (Ulysses) Dept 47, Roulette Dept. 46 and Genesee Dept. 37 completed the third of four modules of the Delmar Essentials of Firefighting course. This module, Exterior Firefighting, built upon the knowledge the firefighters obtained in the first two modules of the course, Introduction to Firefighting and Firegound Support. The third module included 42 hours of training in ground ladder placement and operations, pre-fire planning, sprinkler system operations, public fire prevention and forcible entry. The training included a trip to the Tri-County Fireman's Association training facility in Smethport to conduct ladder evolutions on the ladder training tower located there as well as a trip to Electricord in Westfield to get first hand information on the layout and operation of a sprinkler system in a commercial building. As part of the course the student firefighters each were required to conduct a pre-fire planning exercise of a local business. The information provided by the students will be used by the department as part of the pre-fire planning process. Completing the class were: Dept 37: Jeremy Adams Dept 46: Cody Bowser, Travis Green, Mark Rees and Bill Shinn Dept 47: Matt Cornell, Cody Crowner, Wallace Eaton, Steve Empson, Christopher Healy, Kaleb Hunt, Kyle Hunt, Tom Jacoby, Luke Lampman, Pam Lampman, and Erich Petsch The senior members of the class (those over the age of 18) will now move on to the fourth and final module, Interior Firefighting, which will begin at the end of September. Any area firefighter that has already completed modules 1 through 3 that is interested in participating in the fourth module, which is also being held at the Tri-Town Fire Station in Ulysses, should fill out an application which is available from the Tri-County Fireman's Association web site.
